Driven by global dual-carbon goals, the pressure for carbon reduction in the construction industry continues to increase. Steel structures have become the core choice for green buildings due to their advantages of 100% recyclability and low carbon emissions from industrial production. According to industry statistics, the proportion of green steel structure buildings worldwide has risen to 42% in 2026, and low-carbon steel, recyclable metal materials, and environmentally friendly processing technologies have become new growth tracks in the industry.
After the official implementation of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), the requirements for carbon emissions of steel structure products exported to Europe have been significantly increased, forcing domestic enterprises to accelerate the upgrading of materials and processes. At present, a variety of low-carbon metal materials have emerged in the industry: for example, low-carbon steel produced by electric furnace short-process technology reduces carbon emissions by more than 60% compared with traditional processes; high-performance weathering steel can be used without painting, greatly reducing VOC emissions during construction; and recyclable aluminum alloy spatial structures, which are only 1/3 the weight of steel, have significant carbon reduction effects throughout the life cycle.
In response to the industry's green transformation needs, STEEL BUILD 2027 specially sets up a Green Metal Materials & Low-Carbon Process Exhibition Area, gathering enterprises in low-carbon steel, weathering steel, environmentally friendly anti-corrosion materials, energy-saving processing equipment and other fields. In the same period, it will also hold the Green Steel Structure Development Summit, inviting industry experts to interpret global low-carbon policies and technology trends.
