Recently, a domestic intelligent construction enterprise released the world's largest 3D-printed spatial steel structure joint component. The component adopts wire arc additive manufacturing technology, with an overall size of 2.8m × 2.2m and a weight of 1.2 tons. It is currently the largest 3D-printed steel structure component that can be used in construction engineering worldwide, marking that metal additive manufacturing technology has officially moved from industrial fields to large-scale application in construction engineering.

Compared with traditional cutting processing, 3D-printed steel structure components can realize integrated forming of complex special-shaped shapes, increasing material utilization from 30% to over 95%, and shortening the production cycle by 50%. It is especially suitable for scenarios such as special-shaped joints of long-span spatial structures and customized cultural tourism landmark components. At present, this technology has been piloted and applied in many large stadiums and cultural tourism projects, solving the problem that traditional processes are difficult to process complex shapes.

Industry insiders said that with the maturity of metal 3D printing technology and the decline in costs, it will achieve large-scale application in the steel structure industry in the next 3-5 years, completely changing the processing mode of traditional metal components.
